Ground Penetrating Radar Model Simulation for Detection of Coastal Embankment

چکیده

In recent years, the ground penetrating radar (GPR) is increasingly used in the detection of riprap embankments. In order to analyze the costal embankment with explosive compaction, model experiments are conducted to investigate the influence of seawater on the signal and image of GPR, especially to figure out the image variation of riprap bottom boundary. The influence of immersion of seawater to dielectric permittivity is discussed through laboratory test. The results suggest that the average dielectric permittivity for the mixture of crushedstone and seawater can be measured effectively by GPR. Moreover, inclusion of seawater will result in the increasing of riprap permittivity and can attenuate the signal of reflection wave from riprap bottom boundary.
